We are pleased to present the 2020 Missouri ACC Annual Update in Cardiovascular Diseases VIRTUALLY on November 7, 2020. This meeting will showcase the wide breadth of cardiovascular medicine that is present throughout Missouri. We will also be featuring other nationally recognized speakers including ACC President, Athena Poppas, MD, FACC; Ami Bhatt, MD, FACC from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA; and Laxmi Mehta, MD, FACC from Wexler Medical Center, The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.
This meeting will feature speakers from around the state speaking on a variety of cardiovascular disease topics in both plenary and breakout sessions for the whole cardiovascular care team. Topics include: prevention, ischemic heart disease, heart failure and pediatric cardiology. Fellows In Training from across the state will participate in a Poster Competition and Oral Abstract Competition. The winners will represent the chapter at ACC.21. We will again offer a track with special topics tailored to CV Team Members.
NEW THIS YEAR: We will offer an education track designed specifically for Cath Lab Technicians.
We will also have a lively debate on Nuclear Stress Testing in 2020: A Proven Diagnostic Tool for the Modern Era or an Antiquated Relic?
We will close the day with our Women in Cardiology Meeting.

Learning Objectives:
- Identify and discuss current pharmacologic treatments and devices used in the management of congestive heart failure
- Discuss health promotion, risk factor modification, wellness strategies and end of life care in the cardiovascular patient
- Identify and discuss pharmacologic and interventional strategies in the treatment of atherosclerotic heart disease
- Discuss factors in selecting and using medications effectively in cardiovascular patients
Statement of Need
Healthcare in the 21st century is coming to embrace advanced technologies in an effort to shift towards more individualized, patient centered and value-based approaches that will focus on quality improvement and outcomes measurements. Consequently, it is essential that cardiovascular clinicians not only understand disease and wellness states, but be able to competently and appropriately implement new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities.

This course is designed for Cardiologists, CV Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Internists, Primary Care Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and other healthcare providers and CV Team Members.
